War Memorial GatesThe renovation of the War Memorial Gates

Vice chair of the community council 2015-2016, Cllr Tony Wyatt as well as landlord Terry Wood from the Golden Lion public house, led the group working to renovate the War Memorial Gates at the Memorial Park, Park Road, Coedpoeth. Grants were obtained from the Heritage Lottery Fund and from CADW and Calibre Metalwork in Stockport won the tender for the work.

The community of Coedpoeth came out in force, some dressed in First or Second World War attire, to celebrate the re-opening of the gates in June 2015.

The renovation of Memorial Park thanks to WREN and the Playable Places Committee.
The park was successfully completed and opened on July 20th 2016. More pictures to follow.

The Bardic Chair from the Coedpoeth Eisteddfod 1879

Following an email from Mr Ian Land in Wrexham, the Community Council were alerted to an eBay listing of a Bardic Chair for sale in Chichester. This had been won at the Eisteddfod by Mr J T Gabriel of Newbridge, near Llangollen. The Community Council were pleased to be able to purchase the chair, which is now stored in the Chamber of the The Old Carnegie Library.
